|
Kefallonia is the big Ionian Island.
It's the 6 but biggest island of Greece.
It is a very green and raw island.
The highest mountain is called called Enos and is
1628 metes high
The capital is called Argostoli and is a nice harbour
town.
We were staying in the town of Lassi, this is about ± 15
min. Walk from Argostoli
Lassi is a small town with somie restaurants,
supermarkers and sovenir shops.
The see shore has a slow slope and the water is very
clean.
We were in the appartment complex called Ionen club.
It's a nice complex with only 7 appartments in it.
The swimmingpool is not more than 5 minutes away,
And is called Malibu "Tropical Cocktail Bar"
The Tzatziki tasts like the best here.
The swimming is open from 9am to 6pm.
At night you can drink here cocktails, beer, whines etc.
Once a week ther is a greek BBQ.
We rented a four-wheel drive jeep to discover the
island.
From Lassi we drove tot the south, to the nice beach of
Skala.
You can do some nice diving here, and we have seen
beautifull fish.
We then drove through the town of Poros, in the north
direction to Sami, know from the movie called “Captain
Corelli´s Mandolin"
Again driving north, we got the lake of Melissani
Here you can rent a boat to sail around the lake.
It's really worth it.
The next time we drover North and the costal line became
rougher, but very beautifull to see.
Our first stop is Myrthos bay.
This bay is covered with kiezel stenen, which are also
in the see.
The water is very clear and warm to.
There are big waves and a strong current in the water.
Then even further to the North, to the town of Fiskardo.
This is the only town that has not been affected by the
earth-quake of 1953.
Here you can see the original architecture and buildings
of Kefallonia.
The 2rd day we drove back south, to the town of Pessada.
Here you find a wine maker, called
DIVINO
The wine17th century and was taken over in 1996 by Mr.
Gerasimos Hartouliaris.
Here the traditional Kefallonical wine, called Robola,
is made.
There are also many other types of wine.
We got a tour from the owner. It was very nice to see,
but even better to taste the wines. Which we certainly
did.
